Trent XWB product launch commemorative book
The Trent XWB powers the Airbus A350 XWB entered into service with Qatar Airways. As part of the lavish hand-over ceremony Rolls-Royce plan to hand over a specially commissioned sculpture together with a lavish, hand finished book.
Traditionally, for such an event, the book would contain images and information about the engine. I suggested the idea creating this book as a testament to the people who have contributed to the development of the Trent XWB. In addition to their story about their contribution, I also felt it was important to convey that they are not just workers in a huge corporation, they have personality and a life outside out work. It is these social activities that help to make them who they are and contribute to their motivation at work, making the world's most efficient large aero engine.
In addition to the concept of the book I also conceptualised its design; leather clad, slip case, metal badge, debased logo, perfect bound, double thickness front and back cover, textured stock.
I also design the book, using the corporate guidelines but pushing the boundaries and doing something original.
